Michelle Mohr joins Amnesty International

West Chester, Ohio native Michelle S. Mohr has joined the Midwest region of Amnesty International USA, as a membership coordi-

nator.

Amnesty International is an international human rights organization that works directly on behalf of victims of human rights abuses in more than 150 different countries; some subjected to unlawful imprisonment and cruel and degrading punishment because of their sexual orientation.

Amnesty's Midwest regional office is in Chicago. Mohr assumed her new responsibilities in December.

Long active in Amnesty, Mohr is also the membership coordinator on the steering committee of Amnesty International Members for Lesbian and Gay Concerns and a member of the Midwest Advisory Task Force. While in college, she was the group coordinator for the Ohio State University student chapter from 1993 to 1996.

Mohr received a bachelor of arts degree in political science and Michelle Mohr women's stud-

ies from Ohio State University in 1996. She was a Volunteer in Service to America for the Ohio Coalition on Sexual Assault in Columbus. She also volunteered with the Sexual Assault Response Network of Central Ohio; interned with the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission; and served as a facilitator for the study "Circles on Racism" at Ohio State University.

Mohr will assist Amnesty's student groups, organize events such as National Day of Student Action, and maintain membership needs.
